NAMING A HORSE. Each horse for which registration is applied must be given a name, acceptable to IQPA, which does not conflict with the name of any other horse registered with IQPA or well-known AQHA/APHA/ApHC/POA, either living or dead.
The name must not exceed 20 characters, including letters, numbers and blank spaces.
Punctuation marks, such as hyphens, are not permitted. If they are on the application the name will be used, but the punctuation will be removed. (Apostrophes are permitted.)
Profanity or words considered racist of offensive are not allowed to be used in a name unless there are various meanings for the word and the name indicates the inoffensive definition.
CHANGING A HORSE’S NAME. A horse’s name may be changed upon receipt of an acceptable name choice, the registration certificate and remittance of appropriate fee, so long as it has not:
Competed in any show or special event;
Earned a special achievement recognition award
Appeared on any breeding document submitted to IQPA
